Welcome to Weatherford, Whitt Community, Parker County Texas

Weatherford has a rich western heritage filled with colorful characters and personalities. Legendary cattle drivers Oliver Loving, Charles Goodnight and Bose Ikard are just a few of the “Code of the West, Can Do” cowboys that make up Weatherford, Parker County History. Both Loving and Goodnight served as the inspiration for Larry McMurtry’s Lonesome Dove novel.

Weatherford is known as the Cutting Horse Capital of the World and is home to many, many professional trainers and Hall of Fame Horses. Parker County was named by the State Legislature as the Peach Capital of Texas.

Our Sheep Facility is a Weatherford address located several miles east of the Whitt Community. Whitt began in the 1870’s as a stage coach stop between Weatherford and Jacksboro. Whitt had three churches, a school, the weekly Whitt Moon, a cotton gin and twenty businesses. Like other Parker County towns bypassed by the railroads, Whitt began to decline in the early 1900’s. The latest US Census reported 38 people.

We started with Commercial Boer Goats, one Jenny and two Llamas. That first year 52 kids were born and the coyotes killed all but eight. After through research, many phone calls, visits and long road trips the decision was made to sell the remaining goats and finalize our first Fullblood Dorper purchases along with several Great Pyrenees and Anatolian cross dogs. We purchased Type 4 and 5 Ewes, (South African Style) and top Stud Rams throughout Texas. All of our Fullblood Dorper Ewes thrive under range conditions, begin to breed early, wean their lambs quickly, breed back on a year round basis and are excellent, good milking Mothers. Our Fullblood Dorpers are “easy keepers” and are adaptable, hardy and superb browsers. Our South African Style Rams are functional, long bodied and wide.
